2016-2017 Music Home Page -- Grades K-8

Welcome to the Music Home Page, students and families!

As the school year begins, welcome (back) to the Sacred Heart School learning community.
Our music program from kindergarten through eighth grade focuses on enjoying the process of making music. Along the way, students learn the concepts of music: notation, history, style, and the ways in which music, especially the music of the Church, has changed people's lives through the ages.
Students see me once per week for 40 minutes for general music, which includes preparing for grade-level assemblies and other special programs. We aim for a fun balance between music-making and music-learning; this year, I have provided a vinyl prong report cover for each student grades K-8 in our school. They will bring these home to show you their written work. Some of this will be graded, some not. You are likely already aware we have moved to a trimester report card schedule this year. As before, I will post a single grade to the report card representing the work done throughout the trimester. If there are problems, I will be in touch immediately, so there are no surprises when the report card arrives. All grades are now live online, but as there is only one grade each trimester, and no progress report, there will be nothing to see until the first report card.
I invite you to call and leave a message for me school with any questions, ideas, or problems. Miss Betsy will send you to my extension. After school hours, follow the voice prompts and select extension 304.
I invite you to attend our music assemblies. These three are open to the public:
Thanksgiving program (grades 1-2) 8:30 A.M. Thursday, November 17
Christmas Pageant (grades 3-4) 8:30 A.M. Thursday, December 15
World Music program (grades 5-6) 8:30 A.M. Wednesday, February 22, 2017
Each of these programs will be repeated later the same morning at Monsignor Bojnowski Manor and St. Lucian's Home.
The next three events occur toward the end of the school year:
